Hi! Welcome to week 3 of the blog!
I had 3 concerts planned fot this week. But unfortunately it did not start off that good. On tuesday, the 12th of december, I was supposed to photograph Blackbear's show at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. Public transport was still disrupted so a 2 hour journey quickly turned into a 3.5 hour journey. After I finally arrived after those long 3.5 hours, I went to get something to eat with Nina & Ksenia and after that we went to the venue. All was good, especially when we got inside and we saw a barrier! A barrier means a photo pit, which is so much better than just standing in the crowd.
As they didn't say anything about the photo pit and there was no security around, we went to find someone to ask if we could go in the pit. Wrong thing to do. The security didn't know so he went to his colleague to ask it. About 5 minutes later this guy came up to us and cut of our press wristbands, I was extremely mad & confused at this point and just asked what the hell was going on. They told us the band decided they didn't wany any photographers at the show. I know that's a common thing to happen, but I never thought they would decide that when we were already inside the venue with all of our stuff ready.
After trying everything we could to still let it happen, it kinda went downhill. They told me I could still stay and enjoy the show but I was just completely done at that time and just wanted to go home. So I did. No Blackbear for me.
The night after was a lot better. It was my first time photographing at Paradiso in Amsterdam, which made me really happy. Paradiso is a venue that's on my bucket list, so photographing there was a dream come true. Lucas Hamming's show was honestly really good! I enjoyed my time there even though I was on my own and didn't know any of his songs besides Harry Styles' Kiwi. The lighting was amazing as well! Last concert this week was from one of my favorite dutch artists: Ronnie Flex. He played at the Ronda in TivoliVredenburg (Utrecht), which is one of my favorite venues to photograph at. And what's better than your favorite artist in your favorite venue?
Just as usual, we had 3 songs to photograph from the photo pit. Unfortunately, the lighting wasn't that good the first 2 songs so my pictures from the front aren't that good but I still have a few I'm really happy about! Even though I was alone, I still really enjoyed myself. I didn't really know what to expect from him, as I had never seen him live before, but it was a lot of fun! That was it for this week! I hope you enjoyed once again. Until next time!
